5 out of 5 stars If you are going to San Francisco!

Don't just wear flowers in your hair! This is an excellent resources for those "Going West" to California and settling in the Bay. Handy when you are in San Francisco and looking to put down roots.

4 out of 5 stars Useful guide for a newcomer to Silicon Valley and the Bay Area

I used this book to prepare myself for my move to the Silicon Valley area this fall (2005). While some specific information is out-of-date (names of companies, for instance), the neighborhood reviews and other hints were quite helpful. Could have been made even more helpful with more detailed maps.

4 out of 5 stars Questions Answered. Never Bored.

In here were answers to my questions and things I never thought of asking. Newcomer's Handbook is a pretty powerful tool for those thinking of moving here. A few sections need updating so I gave it a four. I've lived in San Francisco just about a year now and also find two other books very handy for getting around. One is called Backroads and the other Golden Gate Trailblazer. After spending my whole life in New England, this move has proven to be a fantastic eye opener.

5 out of 5 stars A Must-Have

This book is something everyone moving to San Francisco should have. It covers everything from descriptions of the neighborhoods to what to include in an earthquake kit. Internet addresses and phone numbers to banks, rental agencies, and just about anything else you can think of are included. I used the book a lot before I arrived and am using it just as much, if not more, after making the move. I highly recommend it.

5 out of 5 stars EVERYTHING

This book has so much info. A good book to help you anticipate your move!
