i bought this book as a reference and was not very happy. its a good review book for someone who knows the software, but doesnt really give alot for a "Dummy".
Other ways to learn
The tutorials that come with the creative suite are not only sufficient but also easy to understand and follow, use them first and if you still have questions consider wasting your money on the book for dummies.

It's packed with plenty of detail, yet very accessible to relative newcomers, making it an excellent collection choice.
