Sybex STAMP of Approval
I recently took my CEH and passed, so from first hand experience with "using" this book as exam prep: I sat around with a group of friends and to help us all study we each read a chapter's practice questions and took turns answering. After the very first chapter, a pattern started to emerge. The incorrectness of these questions and answers were so obvious that we started to preface certain questions with "This question has the Sybex CEH stamp of approval", as we were uncertain at the time who to lay the blame on, Sybex or the CEH in general. After the preface was said, everyone in the group knew to answer with the most absurd answer option, and usually got it correct (according to the book). As stated above in the other 1-star comment, I have filled this book in a bown cardboard grave, hopefully never to hurt anyone else. I may bring it out for laughs once in a while now that I think of it. You have been warned.
Right to the point
This book is a good final touch for the exam. Its perfect for people with prior knowledge to penetration testing and network security.
Interesting read
i found this book interesting and easy to read. i recommend it to whoever wants to break into ethical hacking. my only take on it is that its not as detailed as i was expecting. i am not sure how that's going to impact my preparation for the CEH test...guess ill find out soon enough
too easy?
hi ima freshman in highschool, i went through the questions at the end of every chapter and i got almost all of them on (on the "idealogy" stuff) i think this book is waaaaay too easy. i also noticed it said that you cant sniff any packets on a switched LAN and you DEFINITLY CAN. Read Counter-Hack:Reloaded if you dont want to read an elementary book on Ethical Hacking. Better take my CEH exam before highschool tho it will look good on transcript. hell if the exam is as easy as the book ill ask my school if i can do penetration testing(with a get out of jail free card of course.)
CEH: Review
Very helpful summary after class prep reading then taking the class. This book helps pull all the material together very well. Very good study guide.
