Product Description

The classic, in-depth developer's guide to the Windows kernel now covers Windows .NET Server 2003, Windows XP, and Windows 2000. Written by noted Windows internals experts David Solomon and Mark Russinovich in collaboration with the Microsoft Windows .NET Server product development team, this book packs the latest concepts and terms, kernel and source code specifics, undocumented interfaces, component and tool descriptions, and architectural perspectives that reveal the inner workings of the operating system. Special callouts highlight information that is specific to a particular version of Windows, and an advanced troubleshooting section helps you more easily decipher-and exploit-system operations and performance.

5 out of 5 stars Excellent Reference

This is an excellent book even for the relatively inexperienced. It provides a great understanding of the foundations of the Windows operating system and by doing so, enhances one's abilities to troubleshoot. I highly recommend the book.

5 out of 5 stars It's all that!

If you know what *might* be in an "internals" book - you'll be glad to know it's all in there. If you know Windows, Dave Cutler, and what *could* be in an internals book - you'll be surprised to find it's all in there too! Mark & Dave (Solomon) know what we crave, and expressed it well - it's a great piece of work.

And, though cliche, it's true - if you can only buy one book on Windows Internals - buy this one. Enjoy, and G'Luck! --Ken

This hard cover book looked like new and it still helping me a lot in understanding the Windows Internals. I am waiting to look for the latest edition that will be out sometime during March 2009.
