Many companies want to migrate their applications to the .NET Framework. Considering the paradigm shift in application development with .NET, in many cases it's not feasible to take an entire application and migrate it in a single go. It's also not possible to throw away existing investments in your COM--based code just to take advantage of the new .NET platform. To make matters worse, your timeline may not allow a complete migration of an entire application.
