Editorial Reviews:

The MCSE exams require even the most experienced administrator to bone up on hard-to-remember facts that you might normally just look up when you needed them. Sometimes, an old fashioned memorization aid is just what you need, even when what you're studying is technology for the 21st Century.

Many MCSE candidates construct their own flashcards to help them study. Now, you can buy a set of proven cards that help you concentrate on the bits you'll need to have at your fingertips to pass the exam.

Many of the cards are "Jeopardy" (TM) style, and can be used either way -- to match a definition with a term, or to see if you remember what's important about the term.

Covers Exam #70-058, Networking Essentials

These cards are an essential part of your test-taking strategy and an ideal complement to the coverage in MCSE: The Core Exams in a Nutshell or other test-preparation books. There are three types of cards included:

  • Definition cards give the characteristics of a particular technology, or individual facts you need to memorize.
  • Compare and Contrast cards test your ability to distinguish between two related technologies.
  • Advantages and Disadvantages cards help you to remember the key facts that you'll need to answer many of the difficult situational questions on the MCSE exam.

You need to remember a lot of terminology, acronyms, and facts to pass the MCSE exams. An ideal complement to MCSE: The Core Exams in a Nutshell, these flashcards will help you memorize all the key facts you need for Exam #70-058, Networking Essentials. Convenient for quick study sessions on the subway or bus.

Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars Very Handy!

I used the flashcards as a review a couple days before the exam. Not only do they save me a lot of time in researching what is important to remember, but they also provide me with all the "essential" terminologies and acronyms needed to know for the test. A handy tool! I hope O'Reilly will do the same for Exchange Server soon because I'm taking it next.

3 out of 5 stars Worked for me!

I liked the flashcards -- after correcting a few errors as noted on the oreilly web site. I carried them around with me and shuffled through them during off moments. I guess you could produce your own, but these are thick coated paper and have large print.

2 out of 5 stars Not bad but not really worth the price

The Networking Essentials Flashcards is a nice little resource to have, especially the poster-size crib-sheet, but it's not really worth the money.Buy a stack of white, index cards at the drugstore for $1.50, and make up your own set of flashcards. You can include more detail, and searching for the information yourself will allow you to remember it better.
