Product Description

The American Promise: A Compact History offers a unique mid-sized alternative to brief and full-sized texts alike. Designed to draw students into the book and spark their historical imagination, abundant artifacts in the visual program make history tangible and introduces students to material culture, while numerous voices of individuals in the narrative connect students to the people who embraced and contested America's promise. The narrative is condensed by the authors to provide just the right amount of text but not too much to preclude additional readings, and it is enhanced by an abundance of full-color visuals, special features, and study tools ? usually paired only with full-length narratives ? to engage and support students in every facet of their learning. The unique combination of narrative, visuals, features and study tools in this mid-sized book is offered at a price thirty percent lower than that of its full-length parent text, making the compact edition just the right choice for many courses.

5 out of 5 stars American Promise

I am happy with my purchase. The book was in excellent condition when I received it. Low price even made it better for my purchase. Thank you very much.

4 out of 5 stars Not bad.

Not too bad I like history and this was a good textbook and a much better price than the book store.

1 out of 5 stars Non-receipt of order and no communication from Amazon.com indicating a shipping delay...

I cancelled this order because Amazon.com lead me to believe I would have my items in time for my son to attend college classes. They never sent any update advising of a delay and when I questioned them about non-receipt of any shipping confirmation, they gave me a lame excuse that my shipping date was only an estimate. Still doesn't excuse amazon.com for not continuously notifying me of shipping status. Needless to say, my son is attending his college courses without the books needed. Thanks for nothing amazon.com.

5 out of 5 stars Excellent Service

The book was in excellent shape and the speed with which I received my purchase was exceptional.
