Editorial Reviews:

This user-friendly review question book is geared specifically to candidates taking the Cardiovascular Boards and the Cardiovascular section of the Internal Medicine Boards, whether for initial certification or for recertification. The book contains over 700 questions with answers, focusing on the specific areas tested. Content areas are covered in the same proportion as on the actual exam to ensure highly targeted, high-yield preparation. This edition's questions are based on patient-oriented scenarios to mimic the Boards. The electrophysiology chapters have been completely revised and include more tracings. Sections on heart failure, coronary artery disease, and STEMI treatment have been significantly revised to reflect current American Heart Association-American College of Cardiology guidelines.

Customer Reviews:

4 out of 5 stars Not bad as an extra study aid

I used this to study for the boards along with ACCSAP. The ACCSAP practice exams were overall better, probably because more of them were of the long clinical vignette style that the exam has adopted and they were more current. The questions here have some of that and some of the longer questions. Overall it's not a bad thing to do to run through several hundred questions right before the boards, although I wouldn't rely on this as your only source of questions. Unfortunately it's a bit dated so it doesn't incorporate some of the latest stuff (last few years) but some things haven't changed much in cardiology (e.g. congenital) where others have.

4 out of 5 stars Very helpful but sometimes too detailed.

Used it the last few weeks before the boards. If you need tons of questions in case format to prep your mind for thinking "board exam style" then this will definitely help. It is the most recent publication of the question books out there - and yet it still has a few outdated guidelines. And some of the questions are excessively difficult and not used on the boards (i.e. pharmacokinetics). But if you are the type of person that needs to go over tons of questions to prepare for the boards, then this book overall will help you focus and refresh your cardiology facts - especially during the final stretch before the boards. Good luck!
