Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars Really hits the nail on the head

This book is wonderful. It really makes the lector aware that s/he is a part of the ministry team and not merely the reader. I highly recommend this to the new lector. But there is a lot of great inspiration for the experienced lector too.

5 out of 5 stars Good, Concise Training Resource

The Ministry of Lectors provides a theological, devotional, and practical understanding of the duties of lectors (a.k.a. lay readers to Protestants). Wallace gives reasons for the importance of this ministry. He also provides various wasy for lectors to prepare themselves for reading the holy Word of God. Wallace's sensitive understanding of the divine Logos permeates this book. Additionally, he offers practical ways for a lector to express the theological truths which substantiate his ministry. His advice on preparation for reading is simple to understand, is easy to follow, and gives noticeable results.

If you are a seasoned lector, you will do well to refresh yourself with this book. It is not remedial, but will deepen your appreciation for the sacred act which you perform. For new lectors, this book provides basic training to enable you to accomplish the high task that you will carry out. And later, you can return to it to find new, deeper experiences.
