can't wait for book 2
I took a workshop with Kip Parker last year but did not realize she had a book out! I finally got a hold of it and read it, now I can't wait for the second installment. I normally don't read fiction, but this book had me enthralled. Also I like the concept of visionary fiction sort of similar to historical fiction.
The story is about a pre-patriarchal women's tribe and the advent of agriculture. The main characters are two queens and each of their daughters. One queen is in charge of hearth and ritual the other of hunting and projects. The queens daughters are destined to follow their mothers path but the girls are inclined opposite. A fast read that will have you imagining what your ancestors tribal life was like.
Life before Patriarchy
Kip Parker's story of 3783 B.C.E. makes me wish that I could join the tribe! It's a lovely story of the twin queens, Devin and Garnet, and of their daughters' struggle to find their own paths. Jori and Kelan each have talent, but must fight to have the tribe accept and recognize their choices. Blessed Be to the Great Bear Mother, this is only Book 1 of The Rememberer's Tales. Bring on Book 2!
