Editorial Reviews:

When Lauren Stillwell discovers her husband leaving a hotel room with another woman, she decides to beat him at his own game. But while she's sneaking around, her husband is hatching a plan of his own. After a torrid quickie with a co-worker, Lauren hears a struggle outside her window and looks out just in time to see her husband loading her lover's limp body into the trunk of a car. When the body shows up in a pool of shallow water, she races to the scene of the crime. But Lauren Stillwell is no regular wronged woman. She's a NYC cop--and she's just been assigned to this case. Unable to tell anyone what she saw and unwilling to turn her husband in, Lauren is paralyzed by a secret that will tear her life apart. But as she attempts to point fingers away from her husband, she uncovers something shocking: her husband didn't have an affair--what he did was far worse than she could have ever imagined. A gripping story of secrets and infidelities that begins where Adrian Lyne's movie Unfaithful leaves off, THE QUICKIE will have readers' hearts pounding to the very last page.

3 out of 5 stars Review of Audio CD

I've read a number of Patterson's books and my opinions are varied; perhaps depending on who the co-author is? I did enjoy this story with its myriad of plot turns & surprises. Also enjoyable is the narrator's voice. I find it easier to listen to women reading men's lines than I do listening to men read the women's parts. Mary Stuart Masterson did a good job and kept me interested. Pleasant voice, good engagement.

5 out of 5 stars Best Patterson I've read

This book was quick paced like all Patterson, but not super obvious. It was thrilling until the end, and twists and turns all over the place. This is the best Patterson I have read, and was such a page turner I read it in just a few hours time.

4 out of 5 stars Pandora's box?

Before having a fling read this book and try to avoid one too many problems. The story is kind of different and it'll rivet you to the book all the time, but albeit you'll never have an inkling of the book's end JP made some mistakes to get there. Nevertheless is a very good end.

5 out of 5 stars OH WHAT WICKED WEBS WE WEAVE WHEN WE PRACTICE TO DECEIVE!

With her beautiful home, great job and good looks, Lauren Stillwell was one of those women who looked like she had it all. The woman other women wanted to be. Until the fateful day she got a brilliant idea and decided to pop in on her husband Paul for lunch. That's when it all started to fall apart.

After she spots him walking into a hotel with a beautiful woman, Lauren jump to conclusions, and although she doesn't want to believe it she's certain he's having an affair. So she decides what's good for the goose is good for the gander and gives into a suppressed desire to have an affair with a fellow who has been after her. Sex with no strings. Payback. But that's not what it turns out to be.

Instead, as the evening progresses, nothing is as she thought it would be and Lauren witnesses a murder. Because of the circumstances, she is thrust into a situation that gets more treacherous at every turn. Everything she has valued in life is at risk now and one wrong move can cost her everything. That's the problem. She's making lots of wrong moves and time is running out. As she tries to keep her life from exploding, she starts to doubt everything and everyone. What's real and what isn't. Well, you'll have to read it to find out, because I'm not going to be the one to give it away.

The book is chock full of surprises, twists and turns. A definite page turner. Don't miss it.

5 out of 5 stars Never a dull moment!

This story is not at all predictable. I enjoyed every twist and turn like a really fast roller coaster ride with lots of loops, hills, and turns.
