Great Mystery and romance
Kathleen Palmer is a GBI dedicated to her job in rural Georgia surrounded by corrupt cops. When she investigates the shooting of two teenage boys she is determined to find the truth, no matter the consequences. What she doesn't intent is to fall for Jason Harding a depute in the same police squad that she believes killed the two boys. Is Jason what he seems or something more? What Kathleen knows for sure is that her heart believes in him.
Truth and Consequences is a great read. Although the writing could use a bit more polish it is great in most instances. The plot is captivating if a little choppy in some places. The characters are brought to life beautifully.
This book is great for anyone who likes mysteries and non corny romances.
could not put down
I could not put the book down. I tried but kept picking it back up. linda windfree makes you feel like you are there in the action. This was my first book by her but will not be my last. Can't wait to read the other books in the series.
Predictable
This book could have gone a lot differently. It seemed predictable and boring. There was romance, sex, and a little action. The story line was too easy to follow from the first chapter. I knew in the first chapter that the guy gets the girl and blah blah blah....
Great read if you are a Nora Roberts fan!
I love to read Nora Roberts, Mary Higgins Clark, etc. I love the Romance/Mystery genre. This book fits well into that genre. It was a quick but intelligent read. I really enjoyed the characters and was pulled into the story. I felt that the plot was believable. I could not put this book down. This book was very descriptive without being overly wordy. My only reason for 4 stars and not 5- The author spent so much time building up to the end of the story and then ended it a little abruptly. I liked the ending but just felt it could have been drawn out a little better. If you are a Nora Roberts fan, you will really enjoy this book! I will definitely seek out other books by this author.
This really should be in the Romance Category
One half chapter in this book and I realized that CBI Palmer was more interested in sex than crime the instant she looked at Deputy Harding. Harding likewise was more interested in sex the instant he looked at Palmer. I figured the next chapters would be more about the sexual tension they felt for each other with some predicable red-necked country boy corrupt law enforcement going on to make it read somewhat like a mystery. I am not one that thinks the two genres mix well. When an officer of the law thinks mostly about an unknown hunky deputy than a messy, real, horrific crime scene I know to stop reading. This will appeal to readers that like a lot of sexual goings on in their books no matter what the story, but I think this really detracts from a good mystery. It was free so no complaints about wasting my money and about 10 minutes of my time.
