Editorial Reviews:

See inside every yoga pose! With clear, expert instruction and full-color, detailed anatomical drawings, Yoga Anatomy depicts the most common asanas to provide a deeper understanding of the structures and principles underlying each movement and of yoga itself.

From breathing to standing poses, see how each muscle is used, how slight alterations of a pose can enhance or reduce effectiveness, and how the spine, breathing, and body position are all fundamentally linked.

Whether you are just beginning your journey or have been practicing yoga for years, Yoga Anatomy will be an invaluable resource?one that allows you to see each movement in an entirely new light.

Author Leslie Kaminoff is a recognized expert and teacher in anatomy, breathing, and bodywork. He is the founder of The Breathing Project, New York City?s premiere yoga studio dedicated to the teaching of individualized, breath-centered yoga practice and therapy.

5 out of 5 stars Great resource

This is an excellent book to refer back to. Great detailed information. A must for any Yoga Instructor.

5 out of 5 stars Amazing Explanation of Muscle Effects of Yoga

WOW

Amazing photos, amazing rendering of internal musculature. A wow book for understanding what is happening inside the body during asana practice.

Incredibly well done!

5 out of 5 stars Amazing

This is an awesome book for artists as well as yoginis! Gorgeous illustrations and great info. Highly recommend for yoga enthusiasts!

4 out of 5 stars You get to see what happens and what is supposed to be happening.

This is the best illustrated guide I've seen on the subject of yoga. The illustration are extremely clear and more importantly, helpful. You get to see what happens and what is supposed to be happening. I can't imagine doing yoga without having this book around as great reference. In fact I find it more helpful even than videos. With videos I'm always trying to follow along instead of paying attention to my own body and thoughts, which is the point right?

3 out of 5 stars Too scientific for me

I think this is a great book if you have a medical background - I'm just a yoga practicioner and wanted to know which muscles I'm using, what to pay attention to etc., I guess that's not really what the book is meant for.
